L.B.D; the Little Black Dress. The origins of the LBD stem from the 1920's designs of Coco Chanel. A classic LBD is intended to be "long-lasting, versatile, affordable and accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral colour- black". It can be worn all year round. Between Manfy and I, we have our fair share of little black dresses sitting in our wardrobes from a range of different designers including Sass and Bide, Gorman, One Teaspoon, Bebe, Kirrily Johnston and Chloe just to name a few. All of which are embellished in one way or another.
a snap of a couple i quickly grabbed from my wardrobe..
Celebrities who have adorned the LBD include...
1. Emma Watson
2. Lauren Conrad
3. Leighton Meester
4. Beyonce Knowles
5. Riley Keough
The LBD is classic and it is timeless but i think people do tend to forget the sister dress.. the Little White Dress! Tanned, pale, flats, heals, sandals, hair up, hair down, dressy, casual, beachside or party side i think at the end of the day the LWD is forgotten about. The LWD definitely deserves equal credit for its effortless 'go with everything' look!
Next time your out and about looking for a new frock, instead of picking up yet another timeless black go for the forgotten white. You wont regret it!
- but i guess thats what my favourite Tigerlily layer dress says to me every time i throw it on :)
